Visual Studio 2008 stops responding when you leave a SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services-based database project idle for some time

Hi Friends,

I do encounter this problem a number of times. Its a known bug. Visual Studio 2008 stops responding. When you leave a SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services-based database project idle for some time in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, Visual Studio 2008 stops responding. In Task Manager, you see zero percent CPU usage for the Devenv.exe process. However, the memory usage is around 100 megabytes (MB) for the Devenv.exe process.

This problem occurs if the size of the SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services-based database project is fairly large.

The fix is provided in cumulative update package 2 for SQL Server 2008 which can be downloaded from:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958186/

or you may download the latest cumulative update.
