Completed – SQL Server Analysis Services workshop – Mumbai, April 2012

Hi Friends,

In April this year (2012), I delivered an advanced Analysis Services workshop for one of the leading financial institutions of the world.

This workshop was delivered after I completed my hectic side-by-side delivery of SQL Server DBA & SQL Server BI assignment with another client in March. I talked about the SQL Server Database Administration and Performance Tuning workshop here: https://www.sqlservergeeks.com/completed-sql-server-database-administration-performance-tuning-bangalore-march-2012/

And I talked about SQL Server Business Intelligence workshop here: https://www.sqlservergeeks.com/completed-sql-server-business-intelligence-assignment-bangalore-march-2012/

This SQL Server training assignment in India was organized by Peopleware India

Delivering SQL Server Analysis Services training to financial institutions is always a challenge; primarily because of the vertical and all the financial calculations that need to be implemented while building a solution in SQL Server Analysis Services. During this workshop, I made sure, I spend good amount of time with Dimensional modeling and Account Intelligence feature of Analysis Services. I also demoed Many-to-Many Dimensional model with the classic example of Joint Bank accounts. On the last day, we spent considerable amount of time with MDX; and MDX always gets tiring beyond a point 🙂

The audience was fun to work with. They matched my speed of executing labs. I am glad, at the end, my participants were very happy with the overall delivery. Furthermore, I was happy to see many intelligence questions coming from them. Waiting to do another assignment for them sometime soon!

I was glad to make new friends, as always.

Here are is the Pic from the class:

Internals and Performance Tuning excites him, and also gives him sleepless nights at times, simply because he is not a genius, but quite a hard worker and does not give up.
